Sixth discographic chapter of the duo and, at the same time, a photograph of what it is, because in italian ‘SEI’ means ‘YOU ARE’. The approach is different from the ‘CD’ concept, thanks to the destination of the online musical stores and streaming services, which for some years have been changing the way music is produced and the ways in which it reaches the public. The freedom to free themselves from conceiving a monographic project or in any case from a tracklist and a structure with a common thread linked to style or to an era has pushed Andrea Cortesi and Marco Venturi to range between apparently distant works, in a way that is not so ‘extreme’, continuing however some different preferred musical paths.
The interesting aspect in the choice of the works for this compilation is the balance between the classical and elaborate forms of tradition (here the Sonata form) and a more modern conception of brevity: Beethoven, an author wich is very close to the temperament of the duo, the refined and sensual sound of Debussy, the exuberant Italian soul of Nino Rota, Einaudi‘s pop minimalism.
As usual, even by combining pieces by very different composers, distant in time and language, as a gift there is always the discovery that the mission of the musicians is the search for beauty: a desire that is the only possible common thread.
